Fatherson were my Song of the Day #62 last week. Since then, someone sent me a track of theirs, so I thought I’d give them a proper review. The original post can be found here.
I really liked Gone Fission; the modest guitar and simple arrangement allows them to express more than if they were going for the three-guitar chord harmony Valhalla of some indie rock bands; as a threepiece they’ve got a great balance between vocals and riff. Musically, they remind me of Edinburgh’s Cameo Colours or perhaps Miasma, especially for the quick shifts between hush and violently loud. Their bio is below:
Fatherson are a three piece band from the town of Kilmarnock. Currently based in Glasgow they have been making waves in the Scottish music scene through a string of supports and tours with bands such as Idlewild, Panic! at the Disco, Feeder and Twin Atlantic to name a few. Furthermore, this summer saw the band play many festivals such as T in the Park and Wickerman
Here’s another embedded player, with a track you can download for free.
They’re based in Glasgow, so if you’re around, catch them live somewhere (this is where you say the name of a venue, but I’ve never been to Glasgow, so I can’t really recommend anything).
