Lucky Dip #2

It’s time for another go at the Lucky Dip! Let’s get straight into it, shall we?

Underclass are an Edinburgh five-piece rock act. They release their new single Ordinary Strange on the 9th of June – it was recorded at the burgeoning TAPE studios (think My Tony Robots, Letters). The video for Beat Your Fist is below.

SOS are releasing their new single, Carry On Suzie very soon. I can’t embed a player, but a link to their Facebook band page is here. Past reviews of their work can be found in Dauphin’s archives.

Eugene Twist is an act from Glasgow. His debut album – The Boy Who Had Everything – is out on the 9th of June on Tough Act Records.

He’s a 25-year old multi-instrumentalist, and I like it. His voice has a Dylan-esque twang to it, or at leas the way it wraps around words does. His website is here.

The Ugly Club are “The psych/indie-rock band from NJ, US” but I got a PR email for some reason so they’re in.

I can’t think of what they remind me of, but it’s pretty alright. Worth a listen, if you’re into indie rock.

There’s an intruiging video for a band called Adam Stearns and the Glass Animals, a nice trick which left me salivating for more information.

Their bio says that they’re a three man baroque pop outfit (not giving much away then, eh?). Anyway, their latest single was launched on the 8th of June.

Last but not least, State Broadcasters. They’re releasing their second album, Ghosts We Must Carry on Olive Grove Records (!) in September. There was also a launch night at the Captain’s Rest on Thursday 14th June, which is also doubling as an Olive Grove Records showcase night – so a gig review would be welcome from anyone who was there in Glasgow.
