Scottish BAMS 2011

The award is gained via consensus from the writers asked, and the top ten is worked out (I presume) by aggregating the scores given by everyone involved.

Et al

Since I’m not in Edinburgh and I haven’t posted in a while, I’m gonna leave for the new year with the two bands I was sort-of going to cover then didn’t buy the albums of, et cetera.

The Last Battle featured at number 8 on the Scottish BAMS and, although I wanted to write about them I never got round to finding their bandcamp. Nevertheless Edinburgh Man played them in last week’s podcast which I just listened to again, and they’re great, a little delicate jangly folk act. If you liked Randolph’s Leap you’ll like this.

Withered Hand are quite well known in Edinburgh so it’s silly I still haven’t seen, or heard them. If y0u google “withered hand” all you get is links to one of the psalms, some crap about one of Robin Hood’s Merry Men and an Atlanta death/black metal band called Withered. Apparently they’re the future of heavy metal, but that doesn’t distinguish from the fact that they’re all overweight and ponytailed. You can’t be the future of anything if you have a ponytail. But I digress; here is the  link.
